PANews reported on December 9 that Tether’s stablecoin USDT, issued on multiple major blockchains, has been designated as an Accredited Fiat Reference Token (AFRT) by the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM). The designation enables ADGM FSRA-licensed institutions to engage in activities involving USD stablecoins on networks including Aptos, Celo, Cosmos, Kaia, Near, Polkadot, Tezos, TON, and TRON. This follows ADGM’s earlier recognition of USD stablecoins on Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche. With this decision, USDT is now recognized on almost all the major blockchains it supports, expanding its cross-chain footprint across networks such as Aptos, Celo, Cosmos, Kaia, Near, Polkadot, Tezos, TON, and TRON.

The move marks a broader cross-chain footprint for USD stablecoins on these networks. The move signals increased regulatory clarity for USD stablecoins in the region and could pave the way for broader adoption by institutions seeking compliant, cross-chain USD settlements on supporting blockchains.
