BLIFE Protocol (BLIFE), a Bitcoin-based Web3 protocol, announced on Monday that it has merged with Portal, a cross-chain interoperability and liquidity platform for Web3 gaming, with the combined entity operating under the Portal brand. Portal will preserve its cross‑chain gaming focus while integrating BLIFE’s Bitcoin-native projects. Benjamin Charbit, former Ubisoft game director for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, will lead Portal as Chief Executive Officer, and Animoca Brands will back the relaunch with new capital and relevant gaming portfolio connections. G‑20 will also support the initiative as an ecosystem partner.
BLIFE has developed Web3-native experiences for the Bitcoin ecosystem, aiming to bridge Bitcoin with broader Web3 activity. Over the past two years it has built key infrastructure and products to expand Web3 adoption on Bitcoin, including BLIFE.ID, the first identity passport inscribed on Bitcoin, and Odin.fun, a fast-growing memecoin trading platform. BLIFE has cultivated one of the largest Bitcoin communities focused on Web3 and gaming, with tens of thousands of Bitcoin users already engaged. In mid‑2025, BLIFE acquired Beyond, a bidirectional Bitcoin L1 bridge that connects Bitcoin to other major chains, which will be integrated into Portal’s interoperability stack to provide native Bitcoin connectivity and a cross‑chain bridge for gaming.
The merger brings BLIFE’s ecosystem into Portal’s interoperability-focused infrastructure, which includes Portal Hub, the discovery and interoperability platform of Portal, and aims to connect every chain, pool, and game into a single liquidity layer for cross‑chain gaming. Portal Hub will gain access to BLIFE’s network, reinforcing Portal’s mission to deepen liquidity and improve discovery and connectivity for players and developers across chains. As Charbit noted, the merger aligns BLIFE’s Bitcoin work with Portal’s cross‑chain infrastructure and seeks to unlock practical utility across platforms. The integration of BLIFE’s ecosystem, its Bitcoin community, and Beyond’s upcoming bridge expands Portal’s reach and creates new possibilities for developers building cross‑chain experiences.
