It is unlikely that the development of Code of Jokers Evolutions will resume. Developer Jokers, founded by former Sega employees, has announced the termination of development for the mobile blockchain game Code of Jokers Evolutions, which was being created under official license from Sega. The project was announced in March 2025 as a digital card game based on Sega’s arcade intellectual property, Code of Joker.
The original arcade version of Code of Joker was released from 2013 to 2019, and in 2017, Sega released a short-lived mobile version, Code of Jokers Pocket, which was discontinued the following year. Code of Jokers Evolutions was positioned as a revival of the franchise: it retained the key mechanics of the original but added new elements, such as trading cards between users using blockchain technology. An international release was planned for 2025 and a Japanese release by the end of 2026. However, in a new statement, Developer Jokers announced that it had decided to cancel the project “in light of recent changes in the Web3 gaming market”.
