The meme coin market’s total capitalization has fallen about 65% year over year to roughly $35 billion, according to Cointelegraph citing CoinMarketCap data. Trading volume for meme coins this year totaled about $3.5 trillion, down 72% from the same period last year. Even as the broader digital asset market rose, leading meme coins such as DOGE and TRUMP edged lower by about 0.59% and 0.29%, respectively, from the previous day.
Last year’s Santa Rally pushed meme coin market cap toward about $100 billion. This year, meme coins have faced liquidity and investor demand crunch, preventing a rebound even as the broader asset class gained traction.
