Bitmine, the largest Ethereum treasury-focused company, has taken its first step into ETH staking. Onchain data shows the company began earning returns by depositing 74,880 ETH (about $219 million) into Ethereum’s Proof of Stake mechanism. The move marks Bitmine’s first staking activity, according to onchain data.
Bitmine currently holds roughly 4.06 million ETH, and staking a portion represents a notable milestone for institutional treasuries. Analysts say the move signals a shift in institutional sentiment toward the Ethereum ecosystem, positioning ETH as a digital capital tool that can deliver steady returns. The current staking yield is about 3.12% APY.
If Bitmine were to stake all of its ETH, projected annual earnings would reach about 126,800 ETH — roughly $371 million at an ETH price near $2,927. This development underscores how large treasuries are leveraging staking to monetize holdings and potentially influence ETH demand and governance.
