Bybit Pay is expanding in Peru by integrating with Yape and Plin, aiming to cover 90% of digital transactions in the country. Users can pay with Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), and stablecoins (USDT and USDC) through QR code scans or by sending a payment to a Plin-linked phone number. The platform also plans to launch the Bybit Card in Peru during the first half of the year to further facilitate crypto use in daily commerce.
Bybit describes a simple payment flow: users directly spend assets such as BTC, ETH, and stablecoins, while the system automatically converts for the recipient in Peruvian soles. To complete a payment, users either scan a Yape QR code or send a message to a Plin-linked phone number from the Bybit app; the conversion happens automatically. Yape and Plin together reportedly reached over 28 million users in 2024 and handle at least 90% of Peru’s in-person digital operations.
Patricio Mesri, Bybit LATAM CEO, said the expansion will continue and that the Bybit Card is expected to launch in Peru by mid-year. With this rollout, Bybit seeks to anchor crypto payments in Peru as a secure, everyday alternative to traditional banking.
