HashKey Exchange, Hong Kong’s largest licensed digital asset trading platform under HashKey Holdings Limited (3887.HK), has officially launched Tether Gold (XAUt). Professional investors can trade XAUt through the marketplace OTC trading platform. This marks the first time that gold, a traditional safe-haven asset, has been compliantly traded on a licensed exchange in Hong Kong.
Tether Gold (XAUt) is a gold token issued by Tether, with each XAUt representing one troy ounce of gold meeting the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) delivery standards. Users hold XAUt to own gold in the form of on-chain digital tokens, avoiding the inconvenience of physical gold delivery, storage, and circulation.
The listing enables investors to hedge volatility by allocating safe-haven assets within a single platform, as digital assets can be converted into gold through HashKey’s OTC mechanism. Michelle Cheng, Director of HashKey Exchange, described the launch as a concrete step toward more efficient circulation of real-world assets in the digital environment and a bridge between traditional finance and digital finance.
