Coinbase Chief Executive Brian Armstrong said at Davos that a senior executive at one of the world’s top banks told him cryptocurrency has become that bank’s top priority and an existential issue. Speaking at Davos, Armstrong highlighted tokenization and stablecoins as core themes, arguing they could bypass traditional banking rails while expanding investment access to billions. He described the Trump administration as among the most crypto-friendly globally and voiced support for efforts like the CLARITY Act, while predicting that AI agents could increasingly use stablecoins to settle payments outside the traditional banking system.
Armstrong noted that Davos featured AI and crypto as the two most discussed technologies, underscoring crypto’s shift from experimentation to strategic priority. This framing suggests crypto is moving from a niche topic to a central consideration in the strategy of global finance.
