Upbit, a virtual asset exchange run by Dunamu, has started supporting the Korean national team at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics site. Upbit announced on the 6th (local time) that it held a donation delivery ceremony to support Bitcoin (BTC) worth 100 million won to the Korea Sports Council (Chairman Yoo Seung Min) at the Korea House in Milan, Italy, on the 5th (local time).
This sponsorship is designed to pray for the good performance of national athletes who challenge their limits on the world’s best stage of the Winter Olympics and to promote the continuous development of domestic winter sports. It is especially meaningful in that it has connected the most innovative assets with players’ innovative spirit of challenge by donating digital assets (bitcoins) rather than cash or goods. The donations delivered will be used to expand the infrastructure of winter sports in Korea, including fostering youth athletes in winter sports through the Korean Sports Association.
“Upbeat’s special donation will be a strong motivation for athletes on the Olympic stage,” said Yoo Seung Min, president of the Korean Sports Council. “We will use our precious donations transparently and valuefully to reveal the future of Korean winter sports.” Upbit CEO Oh Kyung-seok said, “The passion of the national players who constantly challenge their limits is in line with the value of innovation that Upbit aims for,” adding, “We hope that the sweat drops of the players will lead to valuable results, and Upbit also expressed its support for Bitcoin, the most innovative asset.” Meanwhile, Upbit, which signed an official partnership with the Korean Sports Council in October last year, plans to support the national team in various ways by December 2028. During the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics (Feb. 6-22), a campaign will be held to deliver messages of support to all 71 national athletes, and marketing activities will continue to increase public support by holding Olympic-themed events within the Upbeat app.
