A note claims that the name of the individual involved would be disclosed in exchange for 1 Bitcoin, and the sender says they have been unable to reach Savannah Guthrie’s brother Camron and her sister Annie by email or text. The message directs sending one Bitcoin to a listed wallet and notes that time is of the essence. There is a legitimate Bitcoin address in the note, and it is different from the address in the original ransom note. The note has been forwarded to the FBI, and its credibility remains unclear.
At the time of reporting, one Bitcoin was valued at about $66,000. Law enforcement is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s kidnappers. The development comes amid a surge of activity in the case, including the FBI releasing the first images of the armed individual seen at Guthrie’s doorstep on February 1 and later detaining a deliveryman in Tucson who was questioned and released. Authorities continue to assess the note’s credibility as investigators review evolving details of the case.
