Malaysian authorities have arrested 12 policemen, including four officers from the federal Commercial Crime Investigation Department, in connection with an alleged gang robbery of about RM200,000 (US$51,000) in cryptocurrency following a bungalow raid. The case centers on a plan to exchange cryptocurrency for cash, with officers reportedly involved in the transaction.
According to sources, the suspects agreed to a payment of about US$50,000 in Tether, which was transferred to a cryptocurrency wallet provided by the suspects. The payment was processed in the early hours, and the officers reportedly left the premises only after the transaction was confirmed.
NST, citing a source, said the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation. No charges have been publicly announced at this time, and authorities have not provided further details on the alleged scheme.
