Uzbekistan has issued the country’s first cryptocurrency mining license, signaling a significant push into virtual asset infrastructure. NexaGrid said it received an official virtual-asset mining license from the National Prospects Project Agency (NAPP).
The mining project is expected to take place in the Romitan district of the southwestern Bukhara region. Toyimurod Sultonov said the license was granted through a transparent process, and emphasized that this move is not simply about Bitcoin but a broader effort to build Central Asia’s future infrastructure.
The Uzbek government has officially approved cryptocurrency mining for the first time. NAPP is a presidentially directed agency responsible for enforcing cryptocurrency regulations and licensing.
