The Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station in Gyeonggi Province arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of property damage after spraying garbage on a neighbor’s apartment door and painting graffiti with lacquer on a 15th-floor unit around 8:30 p.m. on February 22. He also left feces in the nearby stairs and distributed leaflets insulting the victim. Authorities detained him on February 26 and sought a detention warrant due to flight risk.
During questioning, the suspect said he acted under instructions from someone he met on Telegram. Police are tracing the person who directed the crime and paid him with cryptocurrency valued at about 800,000 won.
The investigation highlights ongoing efforts to follow digital payments tied to illicit acts and to identify the individuals behind such crimes.
