Polygon Labs announced the Polygon Agent CLI, an end-to-end onchain toolkit designed for the agent economy. The tool enables AI agents to securely create wallets, move stablecoins, bridge assets, and register onchain identities, settling on Polygon. The Agent CLI provides native ERC-8004 onchain identity and reputation and supports per-request payments via the x402 protocol for APIs and data feeds, all settled in stablecoins, without requiring any native gas token. It is available on GitHub and as an installable skill for major agent frameworks, with open integration to Claude and Openclaw.

Easy to install: npm install -g @polygonlabs-agent-cli. From there, your agent can create a wallet, check balances across chains, send tokens, swap, bridge, register onchain identity, build reputation, and pay for x402 endpoints. All in stablecoins, all without touching a native gas token. The CLI is built with three layers that work together in a single system: wallet infrastructure, transaction orchestration, and onchain identity and reputation, with the private key never entering the agent’s context.

Wallet infrastructure includes session-scoped smart contract wallets with per-token spending limits, contract whitelists, and 24-hour expiry. The private key never enters the agent’s context, which matters when you’re running an LLM that could be prompted to leak it. Transaction orchestration uses a single command to swap, bridge, or execute any onchain action, with Polygon’s Trails handling routing, price discovery, and execution. Your agent doesn’t need to know which DEX it’s using; it just tells Trails what it wants and Trails handles the rest.

ERC-8004 enables onchain agent identity and reputation, co-authored by MetaMask, the Ethereum Foundation, Google, and Coinbase, and is the emerging standard for agent identity. With the Polygon Agent CLI, registering your agent’s identity is a single command, after which your agent can accumulate reputation, become discoverable by other agents and services, and participate in a trustless agent economy. STABLECOIN-NATIVE, GAS-ABSTRACTED, X402-READY describes the core model for agents: no gas token management, agents pay in USDC for every action, and no need to hold POL or ETH.

Polygon Labs on March 5, 2026 unveiled the Polygon Agent CLI, an end-to-end onchain toolkit designed for the agent economy. The tool consolidates wallets, payments, security, and identity into a single install, giving AI agents a complete set of onchain capabilities—from creating wallets and moving stablecoins to bridging assets and registering onchain identities. The Agent CLI integrates native ERC-8004 onchain identity and reputation, enabling portable, verifiable agent reputations, and supports per-request payments via the x402 protocol for APIs and data feeds, all settled in stablecoins without requiring any native gas token. The platform is built to reduce fragmented infrastructure, replacing disparate wallet libraries, gas abstractions, swap and bridge APIs, and identity systems with one integrated toolset.

It also emphasizes safety features such as session-scoped wallets with spending controls, gas abstraction, and a dry-run preview before any transaction, ensuring human oversight in autonomous agent operations. The Agent CLI is available through GitHub and as an installable skill for major agent frameworks, with open integration through Claude and Openclaw, and is positioned as infrastructure for programmable money that supports scalable, agent-to-agent commerce on Polygon.
