In May 2024, pump.fun experienced a security breach in which the attacker stole roughly $2 million in SOL and a large amount of meme coins. The attacker claimed he would airdrop the funds to Solana players at random, earning the nickname “Robin Hood of Crypto.” The hacker was a former pump.fun employee, Jarett Dunn (alias Stacc).
In December, a London judge sentenced him to six years in prison for stealing about $2 million in assets. He reportedly suffers from schizoaffective disorder, and his mental state was unstable after his mother’s death and months without medication before the incident.
Two days ago, Dunn released a trove of Telegram chats from his time at pump.fun, fueling ongoing discussions about security and culpability. He described his disclosure as a “justice-fueled self-immolation” whistleblower act.
