Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller foresees a major shift in the payments landscape, anticipating that the entire system will adopt stablecoins within the next 10 to 15 years due to their efficiency, speed, and lower costs. He argues that fiat-backed tokens such as USDT and USDC demonstrate highly useful, productive applications on blockchain for payments. He also contends that many cryptocurrencies are solutions built to address problems that do not exist, highlighting a critical view of the broader crypto space.
Additionally, he asserts that Bitcoin has effectively become a store of value. He questions whether the U.S. dollar can maintain its global reserve status over the next half-century, implying that crypto could eventually supplant it.
