A divorce case in the United Kingdom has taken a dramatic turn as a woman is accused of secretly filming her husband’s cryptocurrency password and allegedly siphoning Bitcoin valued at about £180 million. Ping Pai Yuen, 44, has filed suit against his wife, Fun Fung Li, and her sister in the High Court.

The central claim is that the wife installed hidden CCTV at home to uncover a security password. The Bitcoin was kept in an offline cold wallet secured by a six-digit PIN, but the master seed phrase—24 words—could enable wallet restoration on other devices. Yuen says he learned of the alleged plan from his eldest daughter in July 2023 and installed recording devices to substantiate the claim.

Yuen alleges that the wife, with her sister’s help, moved Bitcoin to 71 different blockchain accounts. Police searches recovered 10 cold wallets and 5 recovery seeds at the residence.

The wife, who resides in Hong Kong, denies the charges in a sworn statement. The court has described the submitted recordings as decisive evidence and noted equipment found during searches that could facilitate the embezzlement. Yuen is seeking the return of the Bitcoin and corresponding monetary compensation, along with a freezing order on all cryptocurrency assets held by the wife and her sister.
