Turkey’s parliament removed cryptocurrency-related tax provisions from a comprehensive bill during its deliberation process. The original provisions had proposed imposing a 0.3% transaction tax on cryptocurrency transactions conducted through service providers, as well as a withholding tax on cryptocurrency gains. This revision followed strong opposition from the opposition parties.
Officials stated that these provisions may be reintroduced in the future as a standalone piece of legislation. This development underscores the ongoing regulatory debate over crypto taxation in Turkey, with lawmakers weighing policy design and industry impact. Stakeholders will watch closely for any future standalone proposals.
