DeFi Technologies has named Johan Wattenstrom as its chief executive, succeeding Olivier Roussy Newton, who resigned from the role.
Wattenstrom will also serve as executive chairman and brings nearly two decades of experience in digital assets, trading and financial infrastructure.
He previously co-founded Valour, DeFi’s European ETF platform, and served as CEO of XBT Provider, which issued one of the world’s first Bitcoin ETPs; he also founded Nortide Capital, a global digital-asset trading and market-making firm.
Upon departing the top role, Roussy Newton will continue to serve as a strategic adviser and remain a cornerstone shareholder of the company.
After transitioning roles next month, Roussy Newton said he will focus on advancing post-quantum solutions at BTQ Technologies.
