Zcash (ZEC) has topped Coinbase’s search charts, according to a recent post. A screenshot shows Zcash near 52,000 searches, compared with about 41,000 for Bitcoin and 39,000 for XRP.
Zcash has surpassed XRP, which had previously ranked as Coinbase’s most-searched crypto in October amid optimism around a U.S. spot ETF.
Zcash has been on a steady rise since September, with a brief pause after hitting a high of $744 on November 7, followed by renewed momentum. The token has posted five straight days of gains as the broader crypto market declined, and is up 14.19% in the last seven days, 215% in the last 30 days, and 1,498% on a yearly basis. It trades around $691 and ranks as the 12th-largest cryptocurrency with a market cap of about $11.3 billion.
Zcash is set to receive a major upgrade, NU6.1, expected to activate at block height 3,146,400 or on November 24 (around 6:00 p.m. UTC ± 10 hours). NU6.1 represents the eighth major network upgrade for Zcash, supported by Electric Coin Co. and the Zcash Foundation. The upgrade institutes a funding model that allocates eight percent of block rewards to the ZCG for grants by and for the Zcash community, with twelve percent allocated to a Coinholder-Controlled Fund seeded by the Deferred Dev Fund Lockbox. The Fund may be used to distribute larger grants to ecosystem participants or left at rest. The model is designed to run until the third halving, allowing time to assess whether changes are warranted or to extend its scope.
