The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is reportedly encouraging the use of the agency’s 8(a) accelerated procedure to process backlogged filings more quickly during the recent shutdown, a move highlighted by Balchunas. Balchunas argues that issuers who had not previously used this path could seize the opportunity, with Bitwise’s XRP ETF singled out as a potential next mover. The shift could shorten the time companies spend in formal review, potentially accelerating XRP-related ETF approvals.

XRP is currently trading around $2.26, up about 1.13% over the last 24 hours, while the broader altcoin index rose roughly 1.3%. The 8(a) process automatically takes effect after a set period, reducing the burden of traditional procedures. Market observers caution that this is a procedural adjustment rather than a fundamental shift, even as XRP and other major assets could feel the ripple effects if accelerated approvals materialize. Additionally, Bernstein Research noted that Bitcoin selling pressure recently reflects the “four-year cycle” thesis, highlighting mixed market signals even as regulatory and product developments unfold.
