Arizona lawmakers have proposed tax exemptions for cryptocurrency and blockchain-related activities. State Senator Wendy Rogers recently introduced three bills aimed at exempting cryptocurrency and blockchain nodes from state taxes. The package includes Senate Bill 1044 (SB 1044), Senate Bill 1045 (SB 1045), and Senate Joint Resolution 1003 (SCR 1003). SB 1044 would exempt virtual currencies from state taxes.
SB 1045 would bar local governments from imposing taxes on blockchain node operations. SCR 1003 would urge a constitutional amendment to explicitly exclude digital assets from the definition of property for tax purposes.
SB 1045 is expected to advance through the legislative process, while SB 1044 and SCR 1003 would require voter referendums in the 2026 election. Together, these measures could promote tax exemptions for blockchain activity and crypto assets and potentially set a precedent for similar reforms in other states.
