Intersect, a member-based organization within Cardano’s ecosystem, has submitted a proposal to name Cardano’s next upgrade Protocol Version 11 as the van Rossem Hard Fork in honor of Max van Rossem. The proposal was disclosed by Intersect in a tweet, where its Hard Fork Working Group outlined the naming plan for Cardano’s upcoming intra-era upgrade. This naming approach reflects Cardano’s tradition of naming hard forks after notable contributors to the community.
Protocol Version 11 represents an intra-era upgrade that will enhance Plutus performance, improve ledger consistency, and strengthen node security without transitioning to a new ledger era. The upgrade is described as part of treasury-funded development work for Cardano, with governance improvements among the changes.
Intersect’s naming proposal reinforces the ecosystem’s collaborative development ethos as Cardano advances Protocol Version 11 toward deployment on the mainnet timeline. If adopted, the naming would align with Cardano’s community-driven upgrade culture and signal ongoing collaboration between stakeholders.
