SBI Holdings, a major Japanese financial group, issued its first blockchain-based bond called the SBI START Bond, with a face value of 10 billion yen and providing XRP as a reward to investors. The bond is structured as a traditional fixed-income product combined with a blockchain payment and XRP reward mechanism, and it is managed on-chain via BOOSTRY’s ibet for Fin platform.
The maturity is three years, and the expected yield is 1.85% to 2.45% per year, with interest paid semi-annually. Qualified individual investors must purchase at least 100,000 yen through SBI VC Trade, and rewards in XRP are allocated proportionally to investment amount; a 100,000 yen investment yields about 200 yen worth of XRP, distributed at issuance and on each coupon date through 2029.
