Officials from the South Georgia Judicial Circuit and the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a cryptocurrency known as XUSD. At least 22 people in Southwest Georgia invested millions of dollars in XUSD, marketed as the first asset-backed cryptocurrency and nearing public release. Investors were told the coin would launch within a month and immediately double in value, but XUSD has not yet been released to market.

The release warns there may be additional potential victims nationwide, including in South Georgia and North Florida, who may be unaware of the ongoing investigation. District Attorney Joe Mulholland, Decatur County Sheriff Wiley Griffin, and Baker County Sheriff Dana Meade have assigned Assistant District Attorney Christopher Quinn and Captain Adam Mobley of Decatur County’s Career Criminals Unit to lead the probe.

Anyone who invested in XUSD or in an asset-backed cryptocurrency within the past six years is urged to contact law enforcement at XUSD.TIPS@BAKERSO.ORG. If you have purchased any XUSD cryptocurrency, please contact Capt. Adam Mobley at (229) 400-8011.
