A 25-year-old entrepreneur was attacked by four mainland Chinese men at a Hung Hom hotel while discussing a silver trade. The assailants allegedly forced him to reveal a cryptocurrency password and diverted about USD 680,000 in crypto. The intruders then went to the entrepreneur’s company and stole 42 kg of silver. The victim was released early this morning and promptly reported the incident to police.
When officers arrived at the hotel, the suspects had already fled, and the victim sustained injuries to the face, arms, and calves. The case is being investigated as illegal detention and extortion, with the Kowloon City Police’s Serious Crime Unit leading the inquiry. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses as they pursue those responsible.
