Worldcoin, the project founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, announced a substantial cut in its daily WLD unlocks starting July 24, with the unlock pace declining by 43%. The World Community allocation was the hardest hit, halving from 3.2 million WLD to 1.6 million WLD, while TFH investors and the team saw unlocks fall 32% to 1.3 million WLD. The total daily issuance is expected to drop from about 5.1 million WLD to 2.9 million, reshaping liquidity across allocations.

As of April 10, 2024, about 4.9 billion WLD had been unlocked, representing 49% of the 100 billion supply, with 3.3 billion WLD currently circulating. Most team and investor tokens were under extended lockups in July 2024, and the remaining tokens continue to follow the daily unlock schedule; real-time unlock schedules are available on Dune. The plan indicates unlock rates across all allocations will automatically decrease by July 24, 2026 as the schedule progresses.

The World Foundation recently sold roughly $65 million worth of WLD in OTC markets, just weeks after the announcement, with the token trading around $0.27. Since early 2026, Worldcoin has shed more than 45% of its value, trading around $0.28 as the broader market rose about 4.7% from a March 2024 high near $11. While lower unlock volumes may ease near-term selling pressure, a broader recovery will depend on investor sentiment and overall market conditions.
