The U.S. cryptocurrency industry has raised about $193 million for the upcoming midterm elections, setting a new record for political fundraising within the sector. The effort reflects a coordinated donor network behind crypto-friendly candidates as the sector seeks a stronger voice in U.S. politics. Fairshake PAC disclosed that Coinbase and Ripple each contributed $25 million, while Andreessen Horowitz’s a16z contributed roughly $24 million, positioning the donor coalition as among the most financially influential in the United States.
Winklevoss twins’ Digital Freedom Fund PAC contributed about $21 million in Bitcoin, and another super PAC led by a Cantor Fitzgerald executive raised about $100 million to back crypto-friendly candidates. In the previous election cycle, Fairshake and related groups spent more than $130 million backing crypto-friendly candidates.
